United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Newbie to RRS and forum - couple of issues so far.

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and life with a RRS.
I have owned it approx, 3 weeks now and have had a number off annoying issues so far.
Previous car was a BMW 320d but this wife wanted a RRS so here we are!
I've got a 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Java, 2006. 92k miles on it.

Issues I've had are,
Boot button stopped working immediately after I picked it up (now replaced by garage for free).
Rear N/S window also stopped working (wiring issue, now fixed by garage for free).
Corroded screws on the alloy part of the side step meant they had to be re-tapped and re-screwed.
New key fob shell as one of the old shells had the buttons completely worn away.
New suspension air pump (replaced by garage for free).
New window rubber weather strips all round as the originals bubbled up (43.99 each ex VAT from LR).

Issues I've still got are,
Front heated seats not working - rear ones work perfectly though - not sure how to diagnose this one.
Sat-Nav maps need updating as I've been on roads and it thinks I'm in a field - no idea on this.
Requires new pad and discs all round (easy fix).
Car has a "humming" noise with a faint steering wheel vibration, around 28-30mph under light acceleration and again at 38-40mph, not a clue what it is but its not right somewhere!

Planned changes,
Its currently got some 18inch V-style alloys on it - they will be going!!
Colour coding all the currently non black bits to black.
Getting all the old silver RR badges off and replacing with new ones.
2010 rear light upgrade.
New black grill and vents.

If you can help me work out how to resolve my current issues that would be great. Wink

Welcome to the wacky world of Land Rover. Sounds as if you have done quite well with sorting out little quirks up to now.

One of the little foibles our cars inflict on us is due to the battery management software; if the battery state of charge is a bit low on start up then switching on high drain items such as seat heaters or screen heaters often results in them not working because the battery management fairy says no. The trick is to leave them off for a few minutes after starting and then try again when the car has been running for a while. Kinda defeats the object of the heaters but that's Land Rovers for you.

Try charging up the battery with a good smart charger.

If the seat heaters really are not working check the fuses and the wiring connectors under the seats as unplugging them and reseating them sometimes fixes the problem. If still no go then the garage that sold it to you have a duty under law to fix it.

Sat Nav update is a simple disc swap. Latest available is 2012. £180 from Land Rover or about £20 for an eBay knock off. I'll leave you to wrestle with your conscience on that one. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Hi Paddi,

Thanks for the reply, as summer is (supposed to be) around the corner, I'm not that fussed about the seats for the moment, just want to the car to be back to its former glory eventually. I will get the alternator and battery changed when I get the belts done in a few months time and hopefully that will sort that issue.

Thanks for the info about the DVD for the nav, i'll be sure to contact LR for a new one Laughing

Through its faults its great to drive and better than the last 4x4 I had a few years ago (a vw touareg).
I also have an expending family so good for the kids too.
