2007 HSE radio signal issues

Hi guys,

We've had ours about 1 yr now and everytime we plug our phones into the cigarette lighter sockets (both the rear one & the front which isn't working at the moment) to charge we lose the radio signal. It will go from really good signal (generally crap music) to pure static. Frustrating doesn't cover it Mad
Also whats the easiest way of upgrading the standard stereo to DAB?

Cheers

Have you tried it with a different adapter? They can fail and cause that sort of problem. A quick and simple way to receive extra radio is to install the tune in radio app on your phone and connect via the aux port but it uses up a fair bit of data. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Hi Paddi,

We've been through quite a few adapters and they all have the same effect. I wondered if there might be a loose wire somewhere or a breakdown of insulation on the ariel cable but wanted to find out if anyone else had similar issues before I resorted to dismantling the dash.

Ahhh OK Maybe not so simple then. The front socket not working might be a clue. I wonder if the head unit ground is faulty and it is finding its way to earth via the front socket? Getting to the head unit is not so difficult and if you try a google search there is a video by Powerful.co.uk I seem to remember. It is the usual Land Rover situation where you give everything a good yank and the the damn spring clips ping off everywhere.

Hopefully one of the proper experts like Bodsy will be along in a minute and have a better suggestion! 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
