You don't _have_ to Andy, but all you'd be doing is "locking them in"... The gtechniq coating won't make it look any / much better.

Sadly I'm just recovering from 2 major ops, else I'd offer to do the correction for far less for you (can't wait to do my own as it's horrific!).

In case you didn't know (and wanted to?) the swirl marks basically put scratches in the paint in a kind of \/ shape.. so when the light shines on the bodywork, the reflection angles get distorted due to the "grooves" and makes the paint look dull and tired looking.

Coating over it won't change what's already there (a bit like putting a plaster on a cut that requires stitches and hoping it sticks back together). It would _help_ to protect against them in the future, but the only real way to really help prevent them is to make sure you wash it properly.

50:50 shot of a Fiesta I did which'll show the reflection / dulling issue quite nicely and why correction previous to LSP would be far more beneficial.

Indeed, spot on! The gtechnic coating (probably something like their EXO) is a ceramic coat, so it will be harder than the original lacquer on our cars (from the small test I did after someone ran their door mirror along the rear quarter of mine, our paint seems to be really quite soft.. good for correction, not good for scratch resistance) but it will ultimately still scratch over time if you keep using almost any kind of not-yourself-car-washing.

Tbh, £900 to have it professionally done with a ceramic coat isn't too bad. Gtechnic is right there at the top in this type of coating and it's not the easiest to apply (not just like slapping some wax on where you can get away with it if it's applied too thickly etc). The end result will be a better finish than when it left the showroom for the first time (dealers have no idea about detailing!) so if you're looking for a great better-than-new finish with some hardwearing protection too, and of course, have the £900 "spare" then IMO, it's money well spent.

I'd love to be able to say, even a ballpark date, but unfortunately after going in for appendicitis to then find out my appendix had a rare strain of cancer.. back in 3 weeks later to be sliced open again and have half my colon removed and the wound split open 4" the day I got discharged.. that's now finally almost healed, but back to a specialist on Thursday to find out if I need any chemo too.. argh! With all things considered, it is getting there, but not to the point that bending and stretching for detailing is going to be an option just yet. Apologies for any false hope given with previous comments... I think sometimes I keep wanting / trying to be able to get on with more that unfortunately I then pay for in the days that follow.

On the plus side, I can't grumble.. I'm here to tell the tale and far more fortunate than some people in the world.
