Side steps - do's and don'ts

Still looking to buy some side steps for my 2008 RRS 2.7 HSE!

A lot of posts on here seem to recommend Direct 4 x 4 but being a typical girl (sorry to pull the girl card out), I'm looking at the many options and don't really know what to go for. Am I right in thinking to stay clear of chrome, and should I go for pre cut cills?

Cutting the sills is easy if you have a multi tool. Takes 5 minutes and they are pre-marked. I don't think you can beat genuine steps. Just my opinion!
