Take it easy - my son was out yesterday on his road bike and came off at speed

He's smashed his bike up and ruined his gear sliding on the tarmac not to mention some pretty nasty patches of raw flesh and bruises. Luckily the cars avoided him as he flew across both lanes - nobody stopped to check he was ok though

His helmet saved his head but he was throwing up and dizzy afterwards

Wishing your son a speedy recovery Muddy. Been there, road rash is so painful.

Salt bath to clean out the grit , then apply lots of savlon/germaline then cover with cling film (seriously, it works).
Get some hospital wound dressings online too that don't stick to the wound, they are far bigger than anything available OTC.

Treat them as you would a burn as they exhibit the same characteristics.  ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
