light whirring sound ???

Hi Folks, my RRS drives beautifull but above 25 mph it has a slight whirring sound. Now it does not increase or fluctuate when engine is reved up or with road speed, so what is it ? is it the ACE pump (if there is one) is it the torque convertor, or is it me Embarassed I know its a boring one but any ideas or if any one else has had this would be interesting Thumbs Up Just to add diffs are fine and also wheel bearings...

Hi folks, still got this whiring noise between 30 - 50 mph. Its not the tyres and it doesn't increase with the engine revs or vehicle speed, it's very annoying but can anyone suggest any ideas on this one please. Idid wonder if it could be torque convertor related as this is only a word to me, cheers Bow down 2007, HSE, Cairnes Blue, Factory tints, Love it !!!

Someone mentioned before prop shaft bearing. Is the whirring on acceleration? Does it go when you lift the gas pedal? Or does it whir when realising the gas pedal on over run? If the lter it could be doff related otherwise propshaft bearing might be a good start to check. I'm not Fat. RRS TDV6 HST.

Hi Joe, thanks for the reply, it's just annoying at the moment and it's done it for the last three months. The sound is more like a spooky whiring sound you would here on a Dr Who episode Embarassed but it doesn't go away when decelerating, its between about 30 - 50 mph but vanishes any slower or faster than that. Also it doesn't speed up or slow down with engine or road speed it just comes and goes, that is why I wondered if it could be the torque convertor. I wasn't sure if the torque convertor speeds up and down with engine speed or stays the same, but she's lovely and smooth on the road. Thumbs Up 2007, HSE, Cairnes Blue, Factory tints, Love it !!!

Weird if its there both on acceleration and deceleration. What tyres you got on? When this noise happens is your Econ button on or off? I'm not Fat. RRS TDV6 HST.

Hi again, its got general grabbers all round on it at present and I my econ button is turned off, its a strange one this mate. The crazy thing is that it doesn't speed up or slow down its only there between these speeds and sounds like its somewhere underneath if that helps Thumbs Up 2007, HSE, Cairnes Blue, Factory tints, Love it !!!

Grabber AT? They are known for making a droning noise at that speed range... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Cheers for that, is it these tyres in general or do tyre pressures contribute ?? Thumbs Up 2007, HSE, Cairnes Blue, Factory tints, Love it !!!

The AT seems to be a noisy tyre at a couple of speeds. Around the 30-40mph range as you've mentioned and again around 60-70mph. Both of which are annoying as they coincide with common cruising speeds in most countries.

There are a number of mentions about it on Disco3. Some report the Cooper LTZ is better in this regard. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Ah, I'm talking about the AT which is somewhat chunkier than either of those tyres. I tend to run at LR's recommended pressures +2psi as I'm running a slightly deeper sidewall (55% rather than 50% aspect ratio). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
