Just for info, I did misfuel a prior shape RRS with 33 litres of petrol on a quarter full tank. After 2 days it refused to start. Called LR Assist, who diagnosed immediately what I had done, and offered 2 options - either recover to the dealer and pay a fortune, or keep brimming the tank daily with derv and hope the fuel pump/s work as they are lubricated with the diesel. The petrol sits atop the diesel so the car refused to start once it hit petrol. I took the latter option and the car went fine for another year and 15k miles before it was time to swap. So, with the car refusing to start once it hit petrol , little or no damage ensued.

Exactly... And that's the scandal here... We cannot afford not to be insured for misfuelling on a RRS (imho).

I did approx 120 miles on my fuel/derv mixture before it refused to start and then had to call LRA out. On filling the tank at the petrol station, fortunately adjacent to the car park I was in, it restarted immediately. I brimmed it daily and drove with my heart in my mouth for the first week or two. |

i would ask their view on why the device they designed to stop this failed and has lead to a £9K claim on your insurance and what are they going to do about it |
