Autobiography or HSE Dynamic?

Hi RRS gurus,

Trying to decide between these two at the moment. I'm going to be funding via a PCP and want to keep the monthly costs the same. My question is, will the AB's residual value maintain the cost difference (higher GFV/final payment), thereby offsetting the difference and keeping the monthly cost around the same? I don't want to increase my deposit if possible.

The AB as specced is around £4.5k more than the dynamic I have specced.

Also at what point should you stop speccing an HSE Dynamic and make the jump to AB! The dynamic is £75,324 with the spec I want.

Thanks for your help Smile

Andorra 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Fuji White

Can't help you on the residuals ... but I was at exactly the same place when compiling my spec .....

about 4k difference..... and I wanted the sills and quarters sprayed on the HSED ...

I like the two tone colourways on the AB so that's the way I went.....

I'm guessing a basic AB will be worth slightly more on a like for like basis ... than a very high spec HSE .. 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

I am going through this right now with my dealer!

I have ordered a 76K HSE Dynamic and the equivalent AB is 6K more so they are running the PCP figures for me to see how it affects the monthly cost with the better residual of the AB. I agree with your reasoning!

The options went from 10k to 6k.

You gain the painted bits and ACC. Also 3 zone climate. Are there any other high value bits you gain as I don't have my brochure on this ipad at the moment? I don't want the two tone leather sadly.

Cheers

Dave

High value extras that are included in the AB (options on the HSE) are pano roof (fixed or sliding), Meridian stereo, 18 way seats (with the AB pattern) Adaptive cruise control and Alston headlining.

Thanks guys. I had ordered most of those already. I don't want hijack Cloudmans thread but my dealer is going to do the sums and let me know soon. Hopefully it will help us both. He has a very good financial lady to work it out.

I am not that familiar with how these deals work (so apologies if I am missing something fundamental) but can you not find out using the finance calculator on LR website just to get an idea even if it is not 100% accurate?

1. Spec your HSE Dynamic
2. Enter your deposit/term etc. in the finance calculator
3. Make a note of monthly payments & GFV
4. Spec your AB Dynamic
5. Enter the same deposit/term etc. as 2 in the finance calculator
6. Make a note of monthly payments & GFV
7. Compare 3 & 6

Would this work or have I misunderstood the OP's question? Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

That is basically it I think. But going through it with someone who understands it better and discussing the probable real value of the car at the end of the pcp helps immensely.

I am sure it would be much better to discuss with someone knowledgeable. The above was just to give a ball park idea in terms of difference in residuals compared to difference in total prices. And I didn't even know they would give their view of actual value at the end of the deal. This could turn into an informative thread, not for me unfortunately Laughing but for others in similar situation Thumbs Up Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Basically if I spend 6K extra to get the AB and it is worth 3K more after 3 years then the AB has only cost 3K.

Now if it is worth 6K more at the end then it hasn't cost me any extra. This is on the principle thay extras lose value but the car doesn't as much. I hope I have this right although I haven't changed my order yet!

Has the OP had any more info?

Dave

That's the principle I'm working to. Not had a chance to discuss with the dealer yet but will post the findings when i do.

Can you point me to the finance calculator? Does this give you the GFV? I had assumed I would need to speak to the dealer for this.

After you have finished your build online, at the last stage where it shows you the summary, there is a Finance Quote link on the right side. The calculator does give you the GFV. However, as Dave said, doing this with the dealer's finance person may be more accurate and/or flexible. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Absolutely, I would just order the Autobiography and to hell with it.

Oh yes, I just have done that!! Rolling with laughter

I would always buy a higher spec model rather than an over specced lower model, I am sure when it comes to resale or trade in then you will benefit.

I am sure the over specced car will be valued at a base price plus a fraction of what the addons cost. IMHO Thumbs Up 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled
