New sport v old sport performance in ice/snow

Ok old sport was a 2006 2.7 se fitted with 18inch vradestein wintrek tyres verses new 3.0 sdv6 using standard road tyres.

Had 3 to 4 inches of snow and ice patches to drive around on in various gradients at decent speed. The light weight of the sdv6 combined with the broader and longer wheel base was far more sure footed and stable than the old sport (and that was good btw) and using non winter grade tyres too. It's good too that the raised suspension is happy at higher speed than the previous version.

Totally delighted since I had initial reservations that I might be putting a lot of money at risk and regret it. Thumbs Up P400e HSE Portofino Blue and Ivory Seats.. it's like a yacht!!

Andorra 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Fuji White

Agree completely ... loads of snow here at the moment and all you say is spot on....

It is very sure footed... i'm on 21" Conti snow tyres... and need them

The only thing i've found is the amount of snow sticking to the arches and side steps is ridiculous

I had 2ft by nearly 5ft lump come lose and fall of while parked up this morning
