In fairness to them they do tend to be more in to actually making use of the capabilities of their vehicles. The RRS has a reputation for being something of a glamour queen (footballers and their wives etc.). Most forget that it's a Disco 3 underneath and shares that vehicle's capabilities.

I note that they give incomplete info about the RRS in their data pages at the rear - they omit the off road height angles which makes it look like the vehicle will struggle. They also only rate it as useful off road as the FL2. This is odd considering the underlying mechanicals. The RRS doesn't score so well as an overlanding vehicle compared to the D3 because it is quite a bit smaller inside which limits it a bit.

There is the issue of the RRS being somewhat more tyre limited than the D3 because it tends to wear more shallow-sidewalled rubber than the D3. Having said that, on the same 255/55/19 Grabber AT worn by many D3s I'd be confident that my RRS would go where they go. Indeed, so far it has done.

Basically, if you want people to take the RRS seriously as a 4x4 you need to get out there and use it as a 4x4. Show them what it can do. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yes, there is a kind of snobbery towards the RRS from the "real" off-roaders.
I've seen that quite a few times going to off-road events or greenlaning+, you get looked down, kind like you do not belong there.

They usually are then quite impressed, even if quite a few try not to show it Wink '08 RRS TDV8
I converted my diesel RRS to run on an environmentally friendly mixture of caribou fat and baby seals oil

Not just RRS... I used to off-road in my Grand Cherokee and would often get some pretty snide remarks from Disco drivers which was quite off-putting when I was first starting out - definitely got the 'you're not one of us' vibe. Sad
