EAS Control Unit vs IID Tool - Whats the difference?

Hi guys can anyone help here without baffling my brain.

Whats the difference between the EAS Control unit and the IID Tool? The IID tool cost more but not sure what it does extra?

EAS Controller can change suspension height for all 3 modes (access, normal and off road). Also suspension calibration for all 4 corners, front & rear or individually. It can read and clear suspension related faults.

IIDTool can do everything that EAS Controller is capable of. It is also a proper fault code reader that can read/clear faults from all ECUs - not just suspension. IIDTool can also be used to edit the CCF file to change settings and enable/disable features that might otherwise require an expensive dealer visit. It can also perform various "service routines" like fuel priming and resetting the FBH. You can use it to view loads of live values too. Have a look at http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/products.html for details.

It all depends on what you want to use it for but in my opinion there is no comparison between the two and the IIDTool is a very capable unit at a very good price. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Thanks for that in depth reply. Seems the IID Tool is a no brainer then for the extra.

I have a 56 plate RRS. After looking on that link its not clear what things I can activate from the tool that may already not be activated on my car?

I'm wanting one to play around with the suspension height and to also read any fault codes that might crop up to avoid costly dealer visits.

If you want to play with suspension only and read/clear suspension faults only then EAS Control may be enough.

I don't know what can be enabled for your car but to see what's available in IIDTool, select your car and year here: http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/products/iidtool.html

I enabled remote park heating on mine (not available in your model) and could have enabled towing electrics, use of headlights as Scandinavian or Canadian DRLs etc. for example if I wanted to. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
