Navigation volume is sometimes very low

Sometimes when I use the navigation the volume is very low, but if I use the volume up button whilst an instruction is being given the voice will eventually come through. The car has the basic single CD head unit, no external amp under drivers seat and obviously has the navigation screen.
Could this be a faulty rotary coupler?

Thanks, Ian.

Hello idrabble.

You can set the offset for navigation in the menus
on the radio.

Look on page 302 in Your Owners Handbook.

Press the "tone" button for approx 5 seconds until
AVC level settings is displayed.
Use short presses of the "tone" button to scroll through
the menu until "Nav Vol Offset" is displayed

The Current offset value will be displayed.
Use The rotary volume control to increase or decrease the value..

Hope that this helps..

Rgds and a Merry Christmas..

Thanks for the response Uffe.

I already understand about how to set the offset volume, my issue is that only sometimes is the navigation volume very low (it also sounds like the voice is in another room, very muffled). I can use the navigation 1 time perfectly and the next time I use the car the volume is very low. Playing with the volume controls on the steering wheel will eventually have an effect.

So does anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks, Ian.
