2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Rear glass tailgate fault

Hi all,

My upper tail gate has started playing up. Open the car and tail gate clicks open, Close then 2 secs later pops open again. Close again and then clicks open....... Sometimes opens straight away other times after 5 or so secs. I can here the locking mechanism clicking on then off. Is it just the sensor or what else should I be looking for, thanks. 2017 Range Rover Sport HSE

You need a new handel / switch the soft rubber part you grab to open the upper tailgate as its full of water 15 min to change cost 30£ off eBay
There is a post some were showing you how to do it on here and YouTube

Takes 30 seconds to fit. Lever the old switch out (doesn't matter if it breaks) follow the wiring back to the connector, unplug and replace

It is the release handle under number plate shroud,behind rubber cover. The alloy hinge type thing that pushes the micro switch gets corroded and sticks. If you clean this part and give it a good dose of WD40 it will be fine. I did mine 2 years ago and it is still fine. Otther option is a new complete switch about £25/£30 and easy t do. itisme

Hi Mikey I see by your link there is a switch on Ebay for £19.99 Free Pstage From Islelandrover Doncaster. I have used them before when my LED Rearlight Cluster was stolen. They are very cheap £178 for the light,was delivered next day itisme
