iPhone diagnostic?

Seen a few apps on the iPhone and some plug in bluetooth OBD II tools on eBay? Anyone used any and are they any use for getting a basic understanding of any problems before you take it to the garage?

I have one of those OBD bluetooth devices that cost about £6 and the free Torgue App on an android tablet.

It is good fun to be able to have the tablet displaying live turbo boost, engine temp and lots of other parameters on the tablet screen in a customisable 'dashboard' layout - you can even reverse it so that the reflection in the windscreen is a head-up display. It will read the basic generic OBD codes.

However - it is really just a toy and can't read or clear any Land Rover specific fault codes; just the basic generic ones.

Research Gap Diagnostic's IID Tool - this is a proper piece of kit with a staggering range of capabilities and pays for itself after just a few uses since JLR dealerships will charge you £100 just for one diagnostic session. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
