Considering buying this RRS.

Ladies and gents, can I have your considered opinions on this vehicle? It's for sale in a garage near me. It has the V8 diesel engine, and says it has FSH. Obviously, this needs to be verified, but does anyone see anything they would be put off by?

I'd prefer the V8 because I believe it has chains rather than cam belts, so one less thing to worry about - or am I wrong?[/url]

Looks nice mate. Big miles though- you'll struggle to get an aftermarket warranty with those miles, and without one you could, will, be in for some hefty repair bills- full history or not.
Even if it's been really well looked after there are still many things which will 'just go'

Sorry for the pessimism!!
Neil

Much appreciated. I did wonder at 138k. I think most warranties only go up to 120k miles.

As Bb says, the mileage is a little high. I'd be more concerned with the turbo's going pop rather than worrying about having to change a cambelt. Turbo failure is quite common on the TDV8's Whistle A cambelt on the other hand, is one change every 105000 miles, or every 7 years. Whichever comes first. Do a search on the site for TDV8 turbo failure.

Hi, and yes it does look a beautifull RRS, the best and most valuable advice I was given and can pass on to you is, make sure it's got an excellent "W" with it. The significant "W" is warranty and trust me it was the best advice I was given ! These beasts are second to none and I have owned a few not to mention, but they can munch there way through ££££sss like no tomorrow if they feel like it. I previously owned a D3 and that ate £6000 in 5 mts, yes, gearbox, altenator, air compressor, Diff, park brake software update just to mention a few. To be honest buy one tomorrow but make sure you cover your rear end with a good "W" . Thumbs Up

I reckon if you could stretch to the gorgeous TDV8 for sale on here for £18500, in a year or so's time you'd be in credit.
Also consider resale- it won't take long for that mileage to be up towards 200k, then you'd almost have to give it away.

Wouldn't entertain it full stop. Mine went bang at 48000 miles with full service history. I would ask the dealer to give you the chassis number then hot foot it to a LR dealer and see what has already been replaced if your serious. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜
