Was Philae made by LR?

I'm wondering if LR had any hand in the building of Philae - there are similarities to their Earth-bound products after all. Half of the bits didn't work properly but everyone is still really happy with it. A bit like a RRS really... Rolling with laughter

Seriously, a bloody good job by the people at ESA. Some serious number crunching to be able to "drop" the lander and have it hit pretty much where they wanted it, when they wanted it to - the comet's gravity is so weak that a slight error in their measurements of it would have been pretty bad for the lander (as in it might not have landed at all!). Sad about the bits failing that resulted in the bouncy landing but hey, it's still a first and it's not the Yanks. Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

What I found quite funny,is that it cost £1bn to do 4bn miles, that's cheaper per mile than an RRS! Whistle
