I've just had confirmation that my insurers will cover my car with the CAT 6 InSecure alone, although I'm going to put a CAT 5 Tracker on too.

In terms of the cat5 tracker. Are you doing this through a third party? |

I will probably suffer the pain and torment of buying a Tracker again as once purchased and installed they are great. |

That's good news. The issue with access, as far as I understand it, affects any car as I beleive the scrotes either scan or block the lock code from the fob when it is used to lock the car. That's why in all the videos you see the car unlock with the indicators flashing before they get to the car. This is why double-locking using the door button is the best and safest way. |

I think that's a step in the right direction. A hardware module in the car which will only work with the two original keys. If you lose one, tough, you have to pay. A big problem requires tough solutions. Presumably, this means it is no longer possible to program a blank key through the OBD port which has been the gaping hole in the security up to now. Third party maintainers are still catered for, you just have to buy the new module and two new keys. Wouldn't know about cost, but I can easily see a lost key could then cost £1000 but then it always was expensive in the days of mechanical keys and replacement locks. The security only works if it is realistically impossible to replace the hardware module on someone's driveway. Otherwise, the thieves could come equipped with the module and key, do the swap and presto. Mark SVR in Estoril Blue |
