More than likely a stupid question

Had my spare wheel stolen, so replaced wheel and carrier today. Whilst under car, I noticed 2 metal blocks - 1 in each corner of where the wheel goes behind rear bumper. The metal blocks move.

May be a bad description, and I didn't take a picture - but just wondering if anyone knows what they are

Something to do with the self levelling suspension i think, balancing blocks....

Make sure you get a spare wheel protector off RLD to protect your wheel getting stolen again.

Really Bodsy? Cos my daughter gets sick in the RRS, not so much in the Audi...

Having said that, our "dampers" knock against the aftermarket exhaust which is almost more annoying than vomit in the leather, and I was going to remove them.

Is there a technical/scientific basis behind these? I've read other threads (poss. on here) that say they're a bunch of heavy ... Every home should have one!

Some years ago, maybe about 7 or 8, Renault F1 team wanted to use them (harmonic, or inertia dampers) on the front suspension of their car ( they were a top team then). FIA wouldn't allow them, primarily because of the advantage Renault would gain over the other teams, although publicly they banned them on a technicality.

Citroen 2CV had them on all four wheels from inception to about 1969. 2011 TDV6 HSE Stornoway grey, ivory trim
