I'm not entirely sure but I thought it was a torsion type diff in the middle. I could be wrong but it is defiantly not a viscus type as this is essentially an aggressive on or off type diff only realty suited to hammering round a track lol |

The centre diff is a multi-plate wet clutch with the locking function provided by an electric motor. The motor is the same one that is used to implement changes between low and high range. The system allows for a varying degree of diff locking based on the Terrain Response settings chosen. Locking occurs automatically depending on the traction and the TR settings. It can not be locked manually by the driver. In TR "general" (special programs "off") the centre diff is effectively open all of the time - traction is controlled by the TC system alone.

Wow, I already checked the first link, it is an amazing piece of information! I'll check the 2 other links this evening (I don't understand why I was not able to find this info myself... ). Really thanks a lot (and yes I was also confused by the variety of limited slip technos that were used at LR...). |

The first one didn't exist until last night - I extracted it from the workshop manual for you.

I've seen that the FFRR adopted the same gearbox and transfer box (and hence centre diff) as the Disco and RRS in 2007. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
