Car is in dealers I'm total fuxxxx in what to do now looking like a new engine , no choice in who to look at it .
Paid £20. Grand for car
Looking @ £10 grand for engine

A: do I sell it the way it is
B: get it fixed
C: kill myself

£10k from a dealers, that seems a lot, they surely should be able to transfer non broken bits off your knackered one and on to the new

try independents for the work required as they won't have as high a hourly rate

or as fredastaire (forum member on Freel2 not the prancing dancing one) did, buy second hand engine, take out what you need and sell on the rest

No one local to do work glasgow engineering 3 k for recon engine 1 years warranty that's not fitting though car lying in edinburgh . Waiting on reply on what's wrong with car !

For 2008 RRS i would expect LR to cover some of the cost.

I take it your RRS has suffered from the oil pump failure?

I believe he used to work for a large LR garage before going alone, but he had a thread about rebuilding his Disco engine

You need to find out the exact failure first.

If it is oil pump, or crank/con rod failure, then LR have picked up the full bill in the past...

If it has had the oil filter fitted incorrectly, you may have a claim with the garage who serviced it last

Independent garage in Newcastle service history @ 64 k I've phoned LR customer service told them cars needs a new engine @ 69 k , obviously no dealer service history , warranty , phoning back Tuesday not happy I didn't get detailed report all I was told 12 grand engine & turbo is required . I'm waiting on morrisons reply to this after all car up after I put there pish contaminated fuel in and it broke done next day....12grand when's bonfire night ?

Looks like no help from pentland edinburgh they won't and can't diagnose what caused engine failure I'm considering recon engine is the best I unable to justify paying 12 grand for an engine .

Since last post and many dealings with pentland edinburgh and LR customer services / technical team then decided they would replace engine as it was "manufactures" fault @ their expense , early Xmas present I supose . I did ask for car to be returned with no faults even if I had to pay , drove out indicator not working suspension Amber warning comes on and noise from front ! Returned to dealers to let them know and then I got hit with list off faults (compressor weak , power steering resiviour needs replaced transfer box noisey needs replaced that was after I was told car was ready,paid £2 and fitted bulb myself . Customer services from pentland / Warwickshire phoned next day to ask how things were so I hit them with it .... So I've been advised to take car to another dealer for full diagnostics which have now been confirmed I need compressor and transfer box !!! Customer services will be in touch Friday !

Anyone had issues with transfer boxes ..is it just bearings or solnoids ?

If the oil has not been changed in the transfer box in time, the bearings will suffer and become noisy.

Replaced a few for this very reason, around 90k miles
