United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Siberian Silver
Tow bar

Evening all,
Bit of advise please guys, the sport I bought last week has a detachable tow bar fitted which is great .
I finally found the key in the boot and after spraying the lock for a week I can now turn said key and twist the green knob.
At this point should the tow bar just pop out downwards ?? My guess is it seized and will need a blow with a hammer ??

cheers

If the removable part has been in the socket for some time then it may well be seized. It's not unusual. There have been a number of threads about it and quite a few suggestions about how to free the bar. I think a good smack is one of the options but not sure how successful it is. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Also - I think you need to pull out - to the right (as you look at it) then twist to unlock. They are prone to needing persuasion though....

Wouldn't want you whacking it if it was free Laughing

Mine got 'stuck' so to speak, and I tapped it side to side with a nylon headed hammer.

If you do get it out this way, make sure you don't trap anything under the towbar, as it is heavier than it looks.

Good luck.
