Supercharger Pulley Upgrade

Has anyone done this?

I have a 6% and 10% increase pulley in hand and wondering which i should go for...

The 10% is a much more "involved" fitting procedure over the 6% so i am wondering if it is going to be worth the extra work.

Does anyone else have a pulley kit fitted?

Regards

I have voted for the 6% option.

My reasoning for this is that i believe that typically you cannot get massive performance increases by uprating just one small part of the entire system.

Mostly the standard system is designed with every aspect only having a small degree of overhead.
if you take things too far above this in just one respect, then you will most likely start to encounter problems in other respects like Air Intake, Exhaust flow, Engine Temperature and not least of all engine life.

I would rather enjoy a smaller trouble free performance benefit than one that gives me trouble and keeps me awake at night.

And any car is only as fast as the one in front of it anyway Rolling with laughter

As I read that Colin, the 6% is only a pulley upgrade, the 10% being more involved, which sounds more than just a pulley Thumbs Up

That is probably my mistake then!

The 6% can be fitted with the SC in situ.

To for the 10% increase (smaller pulley) the SC needs removing and the SC nose modified.

Due to the reduced inner diameter of the pulley the nose diameter needs to be reduced in order for the new pulley to fit over it.

This modification gives a 10% supercharger driven speed increase, which equates to about a 2.5-3psi boost pressure increase and 35-40 bhp/ftlb midrange improvement.

The 6% supercharger driven speed increase, which equates to about a 1.5psi boost pressure increase (this is the pulley size which does not require material removal from the supercharger nose and is a much simpler installation than the 10% pulley option).

After the Pulley i will have a remap and exhaust fitted.

Would you notice an extra 20bhp in a 2.5 ton car?

If you are going to do it, do it properly, 1st time Thumbs Up

That's my belief...

I just wanted to check if anyone else had done it really while i convince myself its a good idea! haha

ECU Remap provides a typical gain of 33BHP and 29lb/ft and takes off the limiter so with a 10% increase running 2.5-3psi the car will become an entirely different animal. An 8mpg animal... :S

I looked into this but did nt think it was worth the cost. £500 fitted. I went for super chips, full sports exhaust including cats.k&n. 420bhp.pulls like a train and sounds as a V8 should.

If you go for 6% you will only wish you had gone 10% Mr. Green . As Disco_Mikey says Go the whole hog first time. If you are even considering a power upgrade on a SC, can you honestly say you would be happy with half an upgrade??

No sorry I have nt. Exhaust was from MIJ in the midlands. It was tailored made so I had a choice of tail pipe ends. Went for oval. £795 fitted. Life warranty. So worth doing. Gives a little rumble when you take the foot of the gas pedal.

Hiya RRS_Supercharged

You clearly have a lot more information at your disposal than you origionaly divulged to us.

Is the supplying company saying that both 6 % and 10 % options have been tested on a standard vehicle and work without any further modifications and that other than a bit of clearance grinding you can fit the 10% one with no other modifications required?

Both have been tried and tested on both RRS and Jaguar systems neither require any additional work. Only the work to fit.

It was the fitting of the 10% I was enquiring about really. Just to see if anyone else had done it.
