I was changing the front hub today and noticed that the outer cv joint as not so well protected. even my mechanic friend was a little surprised that this part was so exposed to the elements, particularly the teeth where they're housed in the knuckle (I guess it's called the knuckle)

does anyone know if something is missing here, a cover of some sort, or should it look this way?
