I'm thinking of buying a rrs 2.7 hse with 70,000 on a 2005 plate.
It looks very clean and tidy and only two owners from new. I currently have a rr l322. Do you think it's wise to go for this car?

Without all the details spec and price, i don't think any of us are in a position to answer your question. Do your homework first, plenty of information here on the site if you use the search button at the top of the page. Looking at some of the faults that occur with these vehicles, is enough to scare anyone off buying one. I would strongly recommend you get a warranty with any Land Rover product though.

The car has full service history from main dealer, 3 month warranty as per usual from dealer an is priced at 14000.
How much on average dose a warranty company charge to cover the car per year?

I see you're not getting much help so I'll try:
I brought one the same age a year ago and have loved it. I thought I'd done my homework, but I've had a few snags but nothing unusual. Needed a new battery, new tailgate switch, new inter cooler, EGRs blanking- and next job will be pads all round and new front suspension arms.
More expensive then I expected to run, but nothing catastrophic.
I pay £645 for a warranty which seems ok so far, piece of mind for engine or turbo failure.
Good luck- I wouldn't be put up with the age- earlier ones can cause just as many of the 'normal' problems.

Oh and make sure the belts were changed at the 7 year point

£14,000 seems a tad on the high side? I would have though more around the £12,000 mark max.

I bought my 2005 rrs about 4 months ago private sale i paid £10,500 115,000km not miles bought it from ireland since owning iv put a new battery on and front bushes also had a hdc fault and turned out to be the transfer case ecu plugs needed cleaning spent £125 on a battary £80 on front polly bush kit and fitted my self had found help on here with regards to the hdc fault

They kind of did the haggling for me- I am famously rubbish at haggling and normally pay more than they wanted in the first place.
I e mailed for a quote, they came back with £850 or there abouts, let them call a few times, when they got through I was a bit non committal, but they came down to £645 for 13 months, unlimited number of claims, no labour cap, claim limit up to the value of the car, covers wear and tear.
Only thing I should of haggled for is, as mine quite old, I can only claim 60% of the cost of parts, but they still pay all the labour.

I didn't mean to suggest the warranty paid for all the faults I listed! Tail gate switch went before I got the warranty, they did pay for 60% of the intercooler and associated labour, wouldn't pay for the EGR blanking (although they would have paid to replace them)
Just about to do battle with them for the suspension arms!

Thanks for your help I didn't buy that one in the end. I've been thinking that my MILLAGE per year is quite low maybe 7000 max and what are your thoughts on 4.4 petrol against diesel? They are cheaper and I hear cheaper to service?

I'm in a pretty similar position to you at the moment, had a FFRR previously and do about 9k miles per Year.
The FFRR does have a nicer interior IMO but the Sport handles a fair bit better, I was thinking about things I'd actually miss from a FF and the only one really was the seats.
I've got a pretty similar budget to you at £16k max and would love a TDV8 but horror stories of turbos going out me off, from what I've heard the TDV6 isn't bad reliability wise just make sure it's had the cambelts done, I've pretty much decided on going for the Supercharged though, they seem to be the most reliable engine out of the bunch, but they're a bit thirsty!!.
