Had the sport in at the stealers for the brake service recall P017, they fitted new pipe and servo unit. They carried out a free health check which includes the following as a Advisory:

"Nsr top arm slight play" = Fitted price £474.41
"Osr top arm slight play" = Fitted price £479.09

Also written in pen at the bottom of the inspection sheet is *Knock from Osf area on road test. I've never heard a knocking anywhere on the car....listened on the way home from stealers and still don't hear any.

I have no clue as to what the price should be to fix "slight play" in the arms, I'm not mechanically minded at all, but if it's only slight play and only an advisory £900 seems a bit steep......and If they have heard a "knock" from the front why are they suggesting changing the rear arms? Rear arms are around £120 a side, and worst case, 2 hours per side.

Mine had this as an advisory for three mots in a row, never had tyre wear nor a noise so left it be.
The knock is an "operational noise" according to LR, although in my case I had 27 bottom ball joints, ten drop Links and then the Antiroll bar bush mod before they resolved it oh and the dampers removed from body to chassis....  2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱

What does the knocking noise sound like? I have a reasonably quiet 'metal on metal' noise from time to time.. a sort of clank?
