To be honest - I have helped a few on here with conversions - they are cheaper from a dealer like Duckworths ( site sponsor ) than some cowboy on EBay - always find a part number if possible then compare it with a dealer - you will sometimes be pleasantly surprised

Is there an easy way to spot a genuine HST? I have one local in black, only down side is interior colour but I suppose that could be easier to change lol |

Definitely easier to change - about £1k for a full cover change & that's brand new - done in a day. Bumpers alone are over a grand without painting & fitting.

I have seen loads of TDV8 saying HST etc but like you, no idea if they are or how to tell |
