noise from air suspension after switching off engine?

Sorry if Im a bit green but Im a newbie owner and looking for things to worry about.
My latest obsession is that when I stopped tonight and got out of car it made a loud phoot noise and the front of the car gradually came down a bit, it was like air was being released from a valve or something like this, FWIW I havent noticed anything wrong but I just thought this seemed a bit odd.

Has anybody had such an experience?

Ahh thanks camelrock,
My Missus said same as Id just been over an incline to get onto a driveway before I parked up.

i thought she'd been on the baked beans.

edit: btw do you do therapy for vibration noise at speeds over 50mph but only whilst accelerating?
Joking aside I dont think its wheels as it doesnt happen when coasting and only when revving especially at speed.
Weird thing is that its not going through the wheel only through the seats, could this be engine mount issue?

Re the vibration thing - is it only slight? Is your car equipped with ARC? Has it had the LR Tech Bulletin thing done where they remove one pair of the body dampers to get rid of a knocking sound? Mine has done this ever since they did that particular bodge. I'm thinking of putting the body dampers back on to see if it makes any difference. I don't think it is wear because it hasn't worsened over the last 11k miles. Considered changing the rear diff but that's an expensive way to find out if its the diff LOL! like you I have thought about engine mounts as the source but there is a note somewhere in the workshop manual that says if the vibration isn't obvious at idle then its not the mounts. But then again I noticed at the weekend that if I put my hand on the body standing outside the car when it is idling - can feel a vibration. But how do you know if its normal or excessive! Any thoughts anyone? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Hello Paddi, TBH I dont have a clue about the ARC thing but I do know that it doesnt happen when idle, even if I rev her up.
It seems to be only at around 50 mph upwards. Its not a knocking, more a general vibration that you feel through the body of the car and it's not really bad. when I take the foot off the gas, even if Im at high speed, it seems to roll pretty well without noise but I get a bit of feeling which seems to be from the wheels.
Like you i don't want to have work done as a process of elimination but Id happily spend a few hundred quid if I knew it would sort it out.

i suppose I ought to get into another rangie, same age and mileage and see how she drives.

This would either tell me Im an OCD paranoid or it will make me even worse.

If when you lift off from moderately high speed - when entering an off-ramp from motorway for example - there is a vibration similar to the feeling a flat rear tyre gives (a sort of speed-related 'wup wup wup' noise) then you have a failing front diff. Premature diff failure was a problem with cars of our year and model. Pull the diff plug and look for black oil with metallic particles which confirms the problem. Least expensive fix is an exchange diff from Duckworths and get a good Indy to fit it. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
