United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged HST Java Black
Buying my first RRS

Hi All,

I'm all very new to this! Im looking at buying my first RRS S/C I have put a small deposit down on one already and hopefully picking it up tomorrow. I'm just wondering whether you think it is a fair price the spec is as follows:

2007 4.2 S/C HST
55,000 miles
3 Previous Owners
The dealer says it has 22" over finch alloys but on closer inspection it doesn't have the over finch stamp on the wheel.
TV's in the front headrests
Sunroof etc etc usual HST spec.
1 Years MOT
6 months TAX
1 Year Warranty with AutoProtect (Have heard horror stories about them already!)
Full tank of Fuel!

The dealer also said they will get the wheels refurbished and the front bumper touched up as it has a few stone chips.
They will also put it through a full service which will include suspension bushes, pads and discs and lower arms.

The price of the car is £20,000 unfortunately the advert isn't online anymore so I can't post a link.

I'm just worried it will blow up on me!! I know it sounds silly but after reading some of the posts on here it does make me worry! Being my first big car purchase I want to try not to get a rubbish deal! The car looks in good condition and doesn't sound like it has any major issues although I know very little about cars! I fell in love with it when I drove it, especially moving from an Audi TT!

Any advice, help or banter to lighten my spirits would be appreciated!!

Thanks All!!

I have no idea if this is a good price or not - just bear in mind that people will always bitch or moan when things go wrong but rarely say anything when it performs just like it's meant to! This is true moreso these days with forums than ever before.

Enjoy your purchase though

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Cairns Blue

I would poke my head over the wall and say it sounds a bit strong but it's a sellers market when it comes to decent Sports. A very similar spec TDV8 is 24995 with similar miles and spec so buyers choice. Have seriously considered a petrol as I do less than 5000 miles a year in a car and found good cars fetching way more than I would have expected to pay. Big Cry 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Thanks for your responses, that is very true waylander we all like a good moan from time to time!

I did have a look around at prices for a while and have noticed some others slightly cheaper, although they are usually private sellers. As long as I'm not getting mugged off I don't mind paying a bit more for a good example. Your rrs looks lovely Peachy sorry I didn't see it before! I went for the petrol as I too only do around 3000 miles a year.

I hear in other threads that you haven't had much luck with your previous RRS simple1 any advice on keeping them in good health?!

Truthful answer, have no idea. Mine was always serviced by main dealer with no expense spared ( company paid Bow down ). When mine expired it had done 48000 miles and been serviced three months prior. Seems to be luck of the draw, I always took it easy when cold and let it idle before switching it off. Found this picture of my very oily turbo that was blamed as cause.

Ouch! Surprised what's the reliability of the TD engines vs the supercharged versions? Or are they both as unreliable as each other?! Laughing

You won't read many horror stories on the Petrol version Thumbs Up mine hasn't missed a heartbeat it's only the shared generic components that have failed - EAS compressor - suspension arms & bushes Thumbs Up

From what I've read, Peachy is 100% correct, the petrol engines are wholly reliable, it's all the other common parts that fail. I would be busting a gut to buy the car your looking at, just trying to convince myself it's what I need in my life. I can get away with odd tank of diesel on my fuel card, it won't unfortunately buy petrol Big Cry Big Cry 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
