8.5l of oil instead of 9.5l

I took my recently bought 2009 3.6td for an oil change.I provided the garage with the oil.
10 litres of castrol oil thinking he is going to return about half a litre back.
Instead he returned 1.5 litres.
He said some of the old oil stays in.How bad do you thing that is?Does this left over oil contaminates the new one?

I'd guess a lot of the old oil stays in, unless you flush it. As long as its got a nice new batch of fresh stuff, I'd be happy. I'm set to change mine every 6k - so if you follow that sort of maintenance the old oil wont be that bad to leave a litre or less in...

But thats a guess! Its a touchy thing oil changes... Whistle

Did he remove both sump bungs ? You don't get a litre of old oil left in an engine when doing an oil change.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current
2009 TDCi 90 current
2018 Discovery 5 HSE lux current
