Hi,

has anyone tried fitting the 2010 model onwards door cards to an earlier car? I'm sure the door card will physically fit, however I'm not sure about the electrics

The door cards fit OK, however there are a few issues. firstly the electrics are not compatible in any way shape or form, you will have use the originals, however the recess in the later cards are slightly bigger therefore do not fit properly. The quick answer is to use the new switch base as a template and cut out the centre piece to make up the difference - a bit fiddley but do-able & should look OK. The other option is make a template but obviously this is a bit more involved.

The other issue is the the door latch cable as it is not compatible either. You can buy the correct one for £6 each from LR, which should fit the earlier latch mechanism as they newer models use the same part no.s. The only snag here is how do you access the door latch mechanism? Has has anyone out there replaced a front door latch or internal cable or have access to section 5 of the RRS workshop manual?
