once you get to live with the foibles like the jerky gear change at low speeds.

I didn't experience this. Gear changes on mine were very smooth throughout the range. Even better on the 8 speed box but that's out of scope for this discussion.

MPG is roughly the same, the TDV8 is marginally better in my experience; I could never seem to get late twenties in the V6 on a run, yet the same sort of journey in the V8 will return 27-30mpg.

You get 30mpg from a TDV8? What do you do - turn it of going down hills? Shocked

Haha, not quite, just good anticipation of the traffic I suppose ... Laughing

The best I've seen on an economy run on the A1 was 30.4mpg at an average of 57mph, on the return trip I didn't hang about and still averaged 26.6mpg at an average of 79.

I've got a 2.7 and find it fine for day to day blundering about. A pal of mine has just bought an 08 TDV8 and comparably my 2.7 is doing a lot better on fuel. Living and commuting in London in mine, with the odd long trip, i'm averaging 425 miles to a tank, whereas he's getting around 300.

It depends what you want it for - if its a second car for long journeys/commuting, I'd go 2.7 all the way. If it was your only car, I'd go TDV8 as that is a better engine by far.

A 2.7 with a BAS remap isn't that bad. Thumbs Up in fact it's quick enough to done for speeding Big Cry Big Cry In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

V8 simple! Sounds nice but could do with more roar which I'll be sorting, mpg acceptable for what it is (3.6 v8 twin turbo moving a lot of weight!)

Never drove the v6 because of comments from people on here.
