Disabled parking fine defence!

Just read this on another forum and speechless Shocked

Quote:
You will not believe this.......last month I got a parking ticket for parking in a disabled space. Wrong I know, I should be punished (it was 7pm and they were all empty). In an act of defiance, I wrote to the council with one line of defence.....'under article 14 of the human right's act 2008, you are not allowed to discriminate against me in any way. You have discriminated against me because I am able-bodied and the ticket is invalid.'
I posted it off for a laugh tongue in cheek. I really didn't expect any one to take it seriously, I was just being obnoxious. I have today received a letter from my local Borough Council saying that I had a 'strong and valid arguement' and I should receive a confirmation letter of cancellation of my parking fine. Tell me if I am wrong, but does this not open the floodgates for any of us to park anywhere we like??? I am slightly worried now..............., I am sure someone in the council will realise before they send me that confirmation letter..........

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Sounds like a pub story. It's the Human Rights Act 1998 , not 2008, and Article 14 only applies to discrimination when applying the Act (and thus the Convention on which it is based). So, for example, you can't discriminate against someone's freedom of expression because they are disabled (or gay or a fascist or...). It certainly doesn't allow one to park in a disabled bay and then claim discrimination on the grounds of being able bodied.

I doubt any Council would have taken it seriously - it sounds like someone trying to get others to try it on for some purpose or other. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
