The first three plus just general faults.
I don't think people mind the cost of repairs if those repairs are rare events. As for wear and tear, I don't have a problem with wear and tear if one is actually using the vehicle's potential, but to have known weaknesses in bushes etc. that wear out on RRS that are just used for school runs seems a bit unreasonable.
I have never had a vehicle that has had to have so much fixed as with my RRS. Starter motor x2, alternator, front lower wishbone x2, front ARB bushes, rear complete anti-roll bar assembly, rear differential, front wheel bearings x2, various minor electrical issues (rear hatch demist, rear hatch release button, headlights that sometimes don't level properly etc.). I also get odd tyre wear which I think is either track rod end, ARB drop link, CV joint or strut/damper. Sorting that out might be expensive. I also think I have a front diff issue - there is a noise that I think is diff but trying to get my local LR garage to look at it is strangely difficult. That's another issue - LR dealers seem to be either great or rubbish. There are plenty of stories around about how badly some LR garages perform and how little they seem to care.
Now I'm fortunate that the big stuff (alternator, starters, rear ARB assembly, rear diff) have been covered by warranty but other stuff hasn't. That makes it an expensive ownership proposition - especially if you're buying second hand and a previous owner couldn't really afford to maintain it. Now that RRS1 is firmly in the cheaper end of the second hand market, more people will find out the cost of running one and more people will tell tales of woe. Those tales will further tarnish LR's reputation - they're not exactly considered reliable now.
I don't think my experience of LR ownership (this is my first one) is at all unusual - people hear about these issues and they think "lovely vehicle but I think I'll go and buy something more reliable and cheap to run". Indeed, if I only ever used my on tarmac then I'd probably have changed it 18 months ago in frustration.
Having said all of that - the RRS is a fabulous vehicle to be in when it's working properly. It's ability to perform as long distance cruiser and then off road bruiser at the flick of a switch is brilliant and something that more people should experience in my opinion. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
