I just got my sport, added bars myself - £150 copy ones off amazon, perfect in my view, my last car was a honda CRV - it had side steps and they got all tarnished, I had to really, really aggressively buff them back to sell the thing, this time round I've added a clear wax over the metal, it looks dead on and I'm guessing the wax will serve as a barrier, I also added protection to the plastics - now underneath where water can hit it is another story, but I cant see it rusting away like yours.

I have a 59 plate and the side step aluminium trim was tarnished when i bought it so i removed them and sprayed them silver then sealed with laquer.Underneath was fine with no rust at all.I have a set of replica side steps in the loft that are for sale ,i changed the sidestep but ended up denting the metal trim in 3 places when fitting one so removed them again ,hangers /brackets are brand new-pm me if your interested in them. |
