retrofit bluetooth or not?

Hi

I've just bought a 2006 RRS. Very happy but unfortunately it doesn't have bluetooth fitted.

The speech button on the left of the steering wheel is there.

So I'm after some opinions/advice. I'd like to have bluetooth for my phone and also ipod connectivity (which isn't fitted)

Would prefer to either retrofit the required hardware or replace the Fisher Price looking head unit with something which provides a lot more options, but from what I have read this is not straightforward to hook into the existing hardware.

If anyone on here can supply and fit please do PM me. I'm based in the SE

cheers

I am doing the same with my D3.

Like you, i already have the voice activation, and mic. In addition, it needs a new switch pack on the steering wheel, a bluetooth module, and a MOST loop, to connect it into the fibre optic circuit, and a small amount of wiring, as well as enabling in the CCF Thumbs Up

where are you getting the parts from Mikey?

I'd still like someone to be able to supply and fit.

I believe I also need to get the ACM to hook up an ipod?

Seems a hell of a lot of money and hassle to get some functionality which isn't earth shattering technology.

Still haven't heard whether there are any good aftermarket solutions which will work well

I had the mobridge unit installed in my BMW.

Worked well and effectively gave factory bluetooth as well as an iPod link. It synthesised the CD changer to do that. Not sure how that would work with the RRS as the cd changer is integrated into the head unit.

It's simple to fit as it just needs power and a connection into the most circuit then it just needs coding so the car knows it's there.
