Yeah, the wife had a manual Freelander as a loaner once and that had an awful gearbox too. I wonder how many Discos get sold with manual gearboxes anyway?

In a practical sense though, how does it feel against the RRS - more cabin room, easy to manoevre around etc?

That's how I felt about ther D3 HSE I was given before christmas.

The Sport may have D3 workings, but it FEELS like a Range Rover should. The D3 just feels basic, even in it's poshest clothes. L319 D4 HSE

Like VA said, just be thankful you didn't get an orange Kia..
Orange kia, what a joke of a car to be given, i trust VA you made good use of your wife's mini during that period!?

Guess which car she drove? When I had to drive the orange thing I kept passing a advert for the same car in the same colour proudly boasting that it only cost £5000 (not exact amount) Worse still is when I had to stop next to the sign when the traffic lights were red and everybody laughed at me - I felt like getting some stickers put on the car saying 'My Other Car is A Range Rover Sport - honestly!' It was the only time when I wished the car had 'loan car courtesy of........' written on the side. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

before I took delivery of mine and while I was waiting I hired cars for a month, I had a Clio and a Meganne, both were SO dull. You really feel like you just blend into the masses when you drive something like that. NO ONE notices you EVER Shocked L319 D4 HSE

Yep agree entirely..
i drive our megane about sometimes, and although its a 2.0 petrol engine in quite a small car, and is quite punchy.. and despite it's weird ass, its just plain bland! its just plain turd..
although the reason why we have it is for these exact reasons, i.e. to take to our relatives house who live in dodgy areas, or to use as a bumper car should the need ever arise.. (at tesco's obviously!)

Its back....thank GOD!

Just been over to collect my car Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Could'nt have come any sooner as I could'nt have lasted another moment with the gearbox in the Disco Sad

BTW - Car all fixed. All electrical problems were due to the duff battery. The knock from the steering column has been looked at and the Pinch-bolt has been retightened. I was told that LR have an issue with the steering column & they are currently investigating Confused . Both the main struts on the tailgate have been replaced & both upper/lower latches plus bump stops have been adjusted.

The passenger wing mirror has been replaced & the necessary work was done to solve the inward adjustment for " short people " as per technical service bulletin No. LS501-001. Although the casing of the wing mirror was broken by someone else I only paid for the parts - they fitted it for free and also gave me 10% discount of the casing. This they did to keep me happy due to the recent problems I have encountered.

RESULT Very Happy

Ps had forgotten how good this car is........ No I had'nt.... I just missed it Embarassed

Excellent news, Martin! Smile Did you have to have the gearbox plate recall seen to as well?

Nice, Martin... you'll have to put some WAVs of them in the gallery if it supports it.

SOUND Rolling Eyes .... Hhhmm will try at some point.

JE Engineering had my car for just short of a couple of hours - I waited with a constant supply of coffee. It is a very well made top quality exhaust.

If you want to discuss anything with JE ... ie a poss system or rear section for the TDV6 - call Jonathon - he would be more than willing to advise what they have in the pipeline for this.
