To do or not to do?

Evening chaps,

I have recently purchased a 2005 rrs 4.2 and although delighted with the car i did buy it knowing it only had a sketchy service history. Mileage is fine and never been written off but the service book has big holes in it.

Now my question to you is :

A) Do i try and keep the service history stamped and up to date from now on, to show any future buyers she is a looked after old girl particularly from now.
or
B) Just service it every year at my mates garage (oil, filters etc) and not worry about stamps and bills?

The car really is a little peach with just a few minor things to do to get her up to scratch apart from that history. What to do?

Also i need to get a service just to change fluids and check bits over as its what i do on all of my cars, Is there a particular service at 60K or is it just your standard service?
thanks in advance

Option B, IMO. Thumbs Up

It's old enough that that is becoming less important, as long as you can explain it to any buyer. Without earlier service history, you'll never be able to claim FSH anyway. If you were to sell it soon, you wouldn't have added much to the book; if you own it a long time, it will effect it's value less. Obviously, you still need to make sure it's serviced correctly. Wink

My D3 has been self-serviced since we bought it in 2013 (and also by the previous owner - he just happened to work at a LR indy!). We don't intend to sell it for a long time/ever, but should we decide to, I can go over everything with a potential buyer, and it would be clear that the car is well looked after. cheers for the reply LFW

I tend to agree with you, but being a newcomer to the pleasures or RRS i didnt know if it was frowned upon to just take it to a normal garage. I have always brought cars on condition , and will do in future. You are absolutely correct when it comes to its age as well. Very few will have a full history anyway. Thanks again for replying mate

I would also keep all receipts. It doesn't actually prove you put the items on/in the car but who would buy oil and filter every year and then throw them away????
