2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Detail

lo all,

I need to spend some time detailing my motor. Can anyone recommend me a good clay bar, polish and wax which will brighten up the paintwork on my black RRS. Also need to get rid of swirl marks and get the black not looking as dull anymore.

Any ideas would be appreciated?

Thanks

James

Morning Chapman,
I suppose the answer really is how far do you want to go Wink ...... Question

When you say get rid of the swirls, do you mean 'forever' or just hiding them?
If you want them removed, then you will need an abrasive polish and preferably a machine (DA buffer or rotary). Personally, if this is your aim, I'd just get a detailer to do it locally for you then maintain it properly.

If you're going to do it yourself, I'd get yourself the following:

* Bilt Hamber Soft Autoclay Bar - only requires water as a lubricant and is great value for money.
* A good all in one cleaner polish, something like Auto Glym's SRP or Zaino AIO, or Bilt Hambers Cleanser Polish.
* Poorboy's Black Hole - will go a long way to hiding those swirls.
* To finish off Sonax Brilliant Shine Extreme Detailer - great product for the money with great water repellant ability.

I'd also get yourself some Autosmart Tardis (will make removing the tar a doddle) and also some Bilt Hamber Korrosol (you'll wonder how you ever cleaned your wheels without it).

......and don't forget to pop up the pictures of your hard work Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I get most of my stuff from Amazon, it's often cheaper than other companies. Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 S Java Black

I spent over 10 hours detailing my car after reading up on the detailing world web site. My car had quite a few scratches on it prior to buying it where it had been driven down country lanes against hedges and also looked like someone had cleaned it with a brillo pad. I started off with snow foam over the whole car then rinsed off, Auto smart tardis (tar remover) over the lower section of the car including wheels then Iron-X on the wheels and car body panels (removes metal contaminents). Snow foam and rinse again, then bilt hamber clay bar to remove any final impurities on the body work. I bought a das 6 pro machine polisher with hexlogic pads and used scholl S17 & S40 (removes scratches & swirls) then sealant (poorboys black hole) then collinite 915 wax. Long winded I know, but it needed doing and a professional detail for a RRS is about £600+ down my way and can take up to 3 days, so I thought I would buy the kit and do it myself. I used ebay and cleanyour car.co.uk.
