United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

I would think that the sight of security marking would stop the scum in their tracks and they'd go somewhere else. Not worth the effort stealing lights etc. if they're obviously marked.

I'm wondering if these stickers could be placed inside the light units - people have split lights to paint the insides black so it should be possible to do and makes removal a pain for the scum. Effectively they become unsaleable. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The scum will sell anything, no matter what markings are on them. its down to pot luck on our part if we see any advertised to let the possible owner of these items know that they are for sale elsewhere, and thats if the victim is a member on here. Mr. Green Who knows how many more have already been stolen Question

Alpa Dot looks interesting

You put tiny dots in different places. And then put a warning sticker in your window. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Although a good idea in principle I don't think markings will deter a thief.
Criminals won't care, especially when there's easy money to be made via Fleebay. 2015 Golf R DSG

But it may put off the less proffessional theif as if they get caught with the item then it leads back to a car

Maybe a group buy could be arranged if someone contacted them to bring down costs

A professional thief will be stealing to order, his buyer will be lined up, the car/lights whatever will be in his hands for a very short time, he's in a risk business, he won't care. He won't give a toss if the stuff is marked with a micro dot or not...He cares as much about the tosser he is selling to as he does about the poor guys car he is stealing or stealing from. It's a good idea, but if some low life is targeting your vehicle for parts..lights ect to move on....this won't deter him for s second in my opinion. An opportunist thief hasn't the brains to realise the implications of the stuff being marked.....getting caught with the goods on him?.....He will take his chances....he's already taking a chance taking some poor guys headlights and grill out.....They don't care period. 2010 RRS TDV6 3.0 Autobiography - Stornoway Grey

I doubt it. If they get caught they're not looking at a jail stretch so not much risk in their eyes. Slapped wrists, bit of community service and don't do it again.
Remember, thieves are prepared to break into your house to steal keys so a marked light is nothing in comparison.

Good old daily mail taking a rather different view of why our lights are being stolen

Total drivel about Cannabis production. The light range spectrum is all wrong for plant growth. LED technology in hydroponics is still in its infancy. LED systems do exist, but nobody is hooking up Range Rover headlights over Cannabis plants. The colour ranges needed and reflective properties are quite different.

The article suggested that they are exported and then sold back to the UK. Why would you do that? Who buys used lights from overseas that just happen to have a UK beam pattern? Why add that layer of expense if a criminal?

Where do the Daily Mail get this stuff? That is very sloppy journalism. Rolling with laughter
