United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Difference between MY10 and MY12

Hi,

I sold my TDV8 Sport last year and bought an Audi A5 3.0 sportback....

I got rid of the sport because of reliability issues but to be honest I missed it as soon as it went.

So... I'm looking to get another one... A decision I hope I don't regret.

There is quite a price difference between MY10 and MY12.

Has anyone had both?

I'm looking to find out what the differences are between the two.

Thanks! 2009 3.6 TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

I have had both and if you can stretch budget go for MY12+ Thumbs Up

MY10 - 6 speed gearbox TDV6 and ok but........

MY12+ - 8 speed SDV6, better economy (10%), upgraded audio, upgraded sound proofing, upgraded suspension, upgraded nav.....

IMHO the MY12+ is more Range Rover than the earlier models Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

^^^^ As Muddy says, my 12/13MY is a big improvement over the 09 TDV8 it replaced.

Smoother, quieter and roughly the same performance. Hopefully more reliable as the 'end-of-run model with all the progress and in-life upgrades.

Looking at the latest brochure you linked to....

Some pictures have gear stick, some have rotary dial selector.

Is it different in the different spec models ? 2009 3.6 TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

The diesel has the 8 speed rotary, the petrol supercharged has the gear stick, 6 speed.

Hi, sorry to side track your original thread. I'am thinking of buying my first RRS - probably a facelift MY09/10. Am I likely to regret this decision? You mention the old reliability issues. Is this a big problem with pre RRS2 models?

It appears to be a bit of a lottery so look for FSH and get a bulletproof warranty - I had 6 faultless Land Rovers then bought a lemon MY10 RRS - not had the MY13 long enough yet to decide Confused

Many on here with sound RRS and many with problems so as I said unless you have wads of cash sitting in the bank in case you have a problem - Warranty, Warranty, Warranty....

If I had not had the issues I actually loved the MY10 compared to my Brothers MY06 but test driving a MY12+ was fatal for my bank balance - I have stayed well away from the RRS2 (under orders from SWMBO) Embarassed Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Smile Thanks muddywheels. So I guess to be absolutely safe; buy from a main dealer - get 1st year ownership warranty thrown in & then continue to renew warranty. It is a shame for a marque like the RRS to be tarnished with issues & problems. I've owned a couple of 911's - both been absolutely faultless - but engine problems do exist for some unlucky owners costing £10K for a rebuild or new engine. Again something you wouldn't associate with a top marque like Porsche.
