LPG Question

I sprung a petrol leak today and when investigating it I found that the leak came from a cracked hose connected to a valve, the same looking valve that the LPG system uses. These valves open and close with a 12V signal I guess from the LPG ECU.
This valve though had petrol running through it and an additional 1/4 turn valve tap. This 1/4 turn tap was nearly off and when I turned it off the leak through the perished hose stopped, when opened the leak was big.

Anyway, hose replaced and no leak whether valve was open or closed.

Does anyone know what this valve is for. My thoughts were it may be for adding additional petrol to the LPG when I floor the throttle. My RRS doesn't accelerate smoothly with LPG when I aggressively floor the throttle and I wondered whether this valve should be fully open with the 1/4 turn tap and then when it gets the correct signal it opens or closes when required.

Anyone have any thoughts? 2006 Supercharged
