Easy Updates?

The two very simple things I would like to improve on my RRS are:

- permanent "off" for the ECO stop/start
- park sensors at front automatically come on at low speed.

Voila!

Is this available from UK dealers? Will it ever be? Regards

Malcolm

I don't see what the problem is with Stop/Start? I think it's a great idea, and it's so quick to respond. I haven't turned it off once yet. Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

Oh, I so want to be able to permanently turn off ECO start/stop. Really annoying.

I want to disable the "feature" where the car turns off itself when opening the driver's door or removing the safety belt. Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic -14

I have no problem with the stop/start BUT...

100% never on the other point. Why would you want every time you're in traffic crawling along for the sensors to turn back on? I know when I want to park and it's not difficult to press the button to tell the car that I'm about to park, I don't want my car trying to guess when I'm going to park and every time I go slow to let me know about every nearby object as if traffic isn't bad enough already!

So in short, the second one should not and will not ever happen.

Stop start is awful and when I tried it on mine, increased fuel consumption.

I turn it off every trip, so can understand the desire to turn it off. Mike

I have had several cars with the front park sensors automatically enabling at about 5mph. They never went off in traffic. One of my work colleagues had a Honda CRV and left her sensors switched on all the time with no adverse bleeping. However, I'm not advocating compulsory inclusion of this but just an option to select if you want to.

I have heard the argument that when off-road at low speed you don't want the sensors on but I could manage to operate the switch to turn them off for the 0.01% of the time I am in this position. Regards

Malcolm

What's so wrong with it? It seems fine on mine! Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

Given the reliability of LR's starter motors I wonder if the 14MY cars with stop/start have higher quality starter solenoids, motors and ring gear Bow down Bow down

I am with you Somchie. These two features are about the only thing I dislike about the car.......apart from 14 mpg as I am addicted to the noise when I put my foot down! MY 14.5 RRS 5.0 S/C Autobiography in Fuji White with contrast Santorini roof and Ebony/Lunar interior.

+1

I fed that back to LR a couple of weeks ago when they called me for feedback too.

That said, it started to make sense when driven in mind with the keyless design. E.g. Turning the cars ignition off is a prerequisite for locking. Having the auto switch off allows you to lock (edited to correct iPad typo - lick) the cars door without having to dig your keys out of your pocket. 2022 P440e AB

PauloAmore, why do you lick your car doors? Shocked

I have to admit, I did find it rather strange that the car turned itself off when I unbuckled my seatbelt, but it doesn't bother me. Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

My advice for LR is to fine tune the Eco stop start so when a car is on a slope eco becomes inactive.

If I'm in constant stop start traffic I switch it off. Not happy with the starter motor churning over every few seconds.

Whilst I realize LR went for a cleaner look in terms of button count, IMO LR went too far in so much as simple seat heating/cooling adjustments now take forever which is pretty dangerous at speed considering you need to take your eyes off the road several times for some adjustments.

Not to mention the dash area now looks too sparse for an expensive classy car. Porsche Panamera button count is perhaps too unsubtle but something in between would be good.

Lastly, I like to apply the handbrake after engaging park. Call me old fashioned but American style rocking parking isn't for me. Why then did they get it so right in the Evoque (put it into P, and the brake comes on automatically. Put it into D, and it disengages).

On the RRS, when the car is put into P, nothing happens and you have to manually engage the electronic brake. Totally daft IMO Current...

I agree, the loss of real switches is a pain and if the screen is as slow and sluggish as it is on the Evoque, it will not be good.

I do wish LR would stop congratulating themselves and actually listen to what their users are saying. Mark

Actually found the screen to be a bit quicker than the Evoque on the RRS for some reason Mark.

Its not too bad with the RRS.....weird I know. Current...
