If I was to buy a RR from a franchised dealer and they are a long way away from me (maybe not a rr dealer), I know I get a 3 month warranty but can I extend that with someone else closer to my home?

If the vehicle fits within the age/mileage limits for the warranty then you can just use it at any LR dealership. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
