NEW TYRES - all round or just the rear?!?

I am about to order tyres for my 2006 Sport. Only the back are showing a bad ware patten. Is it advisable to change all types or is it okay to just change the back two!?! Andrew Kennedy

How bad are the front tyres? On a 4wd vehicle ive always changed all 4, but i keep a very close eye on my tyres so that they wear evenly, by swapping fronts to back when necessary. I would never run a mix of tyres either Whistle All tread patterns must match for my vehicles. Surprising how many people run odd tyres. Shocked

It's fine to change just the back two, but if they have bad wear, I would look at getting a proper alignment done to rectify any erratic wear. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I'm with Ady - but if money is a challenge its not a big issue.

Just done mine, had all 4 put on then tracking / alignment done.

I could not afford the top brand tyres so I went for:

Hankook 275/40 WR 20 RH06 XL 106W

£540 for all four (£135 each), this included new valve, balancing, old tyre disposal and vat.

I thought that was pretty good Very Happy 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)

Agreed, all four is best, think considering the overall mass of our cars, rubber should be at the same wear n tear all round.
Btw £540 for four 20" tyres IS a great deal, just been pricing up some myself. Thumbs Up

I used a company called ETS here in Derbyshire

http://www.edentyresales.co.uk/tyre-search...mp;speed=W

Kwikfit were doing the exact same tyres for £30 each more.

At £540 I can afford to do them all, I even got them to do the tracking / alignment for half price seeing as how I was having a full set on. Very Happy 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)
