Newbie to rrs

Hi everyone ive been looking at getting an early rrs diesel tdv6 but I've also
Seen a few really nice petrol v8s for sale and in the last couple of years our
Family car has only done 6-7k a year all on short journeys so would I be crazy to
Get the petrol? Also I've been reading up and come across the occasional online
Horror stories but are these cars that expensive to own and maintain i realise there not
The cheapest out there for services ect but i dont want to be the mechanics new best friend
Because I've brought one!
Any advise and thoughts would be much much appreciated
Thanks everyone
Adam

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Bonatti Grey

I just brought a 4.2 V8 SC, one of the main points behind buying it was we do so little mileage in our family car.

Our RRS is a fun car to use when want, not a daily commute, so the cost for us was acceptable.

As soon as you mention Range Rover, the price goes up, service, parts, accessories etc, its the price you pay for having a luxury 4x4 that the rich and famous, royalty use.

I for one am glad I own a 4.2 V8 Super Charged car, beats a 1.3 Corsa any day !! Very Happy 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)

England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Hi Adam and wellcome
I was in the same place v8 or v6? in the end i went for the 2.7 v6 HSE 2006. i payed £1350 but knowing i had to spend mony on both lower front wish bones at a cost of £1000. then spent £1050 on some 22'' stomer wheels and tyres. The rrs i brouth had FRRS and 92k on the clock with a hole stack of recites. I am more that happy with the way it drives as its not a racing car and it goes just fine for me considering most of the time im sitting in london traffic. I get 20/22mpg round the houses and 30/32mpg on a run. so not bad at all. I must say that i dont think its under powed at all. The best advice i can give you is buy one with the most money spent on it and a long mot !!!!!
Be warned though they can be costley if they do go tits up. But are very addictive. once you have owned and driven one every thing ells just seems rubbish.
P.s Lording it up over the little cars and people it the best feeling ever Cool

Good luck with what ever you buy and enjoy.
Chris.

"Lording it up"? You do yourself no favours with that kind of superior attitude Mr Day. Owning an old high mile RRS doesn't make you bigger than the little people. While your car might make you feel above us all, your spelling should make you more humble. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Sorry about the spelling' fat fingers small phone and bad eyes.
But I see you have a classic case of list all of your toys and put others down who have an older car to make you feel more important! A car dose not make you cool' telling every one how many and how much they cost defiantly does not Sheep
I was just explaining to Adam the newbie what a joy it is to drive and own a RRS. You will have to forgive give as I'm fairly new to this forum. But I thought it was to give help advice and share experiences about RRS ownership. Not spellings or how old or Censored our cars are compared to some others!

Not at all Chris, my list is just a signature like many others of past cars, not toys. Neither have I indicated how much I paid for any of my past cars. But driving an RRS does not make you a Lord or a big man to "Lord" it ( should read Laud) over the "little people" and I don't think that, after 6 years, that's what this forum is about. I am lucky to have what I have and you are lucky to drive an RRS, lovely cars as you suggest. Best of luck, I will watch out for you in the future honours lists in case your RRS. Brings you a peerage. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

When I say "lording" it up. It is just an expression for sitting up high. Not to be thought of as royalty or better than other people.
When I want to do that I drive my Bentley continental not my old high mileage RRS Laughing

There's always one!
