water level

my low coolant fluid level warning came up on dash last week of my RRS 2007 2.7 Sad checked water lever all ok, bypass the sensor by joining the wires together, and it went out Smile so fitter a new LR sensor today Very Happy a presto, it's
still on Big Cry on examination of the expansion tank, the sensor hole is sealed, so the water dosn't come into contact with the sensor, but there is some sort of float that moves up and down next to it, which seems to be ok, so does anybody know how this works ? as i don't think the new sensor f**ed Bow down
