brakes

could anyone help me ive got a bit of a knock, all was fine then i did the discs and pads, now if you brake its fine but if your creeping forward in traffic and do a sharp tap on the brakes it makes a knock, got my lass to drive when i got back and cant tell which side so maybe both, its not suspension or anything, also doesnt do it in reverse, only thing i can think is either a) a calipers slightly loose or something b0 are the pads sided i.e shamfered on one edge to stop them catching the disc so sharp, wont be using till ive found it but dont know when ill get itme to look, thanks

Sounds like worn front lower arms bushes Thumbs Up

Common culprit of knocking noises when braking. Changed loads of arms/bushes for this exact problem Thumbs Up

Knock when you brake sharply from low speed is usually the front lower wishbone bushes. Perhaps improving the brakes has highlighted the issue?

As said by others, probably lower arm bushes.

Ive just had the same thing repaired a couple of weeks ago, didn't bother with bushes though, just had arms replaced as what you will save in parts just replacing the bushes you will spend in the extra labour of fiddling around with them.

Got mine from http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk

sparky did you have my symtoms, im thinking because i had warped discs before i was gentle with it, since i replaced discs and pads brakes are a1 and now i seem to get this noise, can anyone confirm that disco 3 has the same arms as the rrs on 2005 2,7, just ecp etc seem to list the disco stuff at around 30% cheaper than rrs items, i was going to get bushes as ive access to a press but tbh by the time ive bought a ball joint and the 2 bushes its nearl as cheap as an arm, also struggling to find the arm bush that faces to the front bumper,

Yeah started with a knock when you brake sharp at low speed but quickly got worse and could here same knock when going over bumps, new arms sorted it though and its silent now.

RRS bushes are different. Slightly stronger/firmer than the D3 bushes.

The D3 arms will physically fit though Thumbs Up
