Charging Battery

With the mornings getting colder I am thinking giving the battery a good charge would be a good idea.....I have only had the car a couple of months and it's an 06 we don't do many long runs just a few miles city driving daily. My son just got a new Ctek charger and I read somewhere where the battery can be charged without removing it from the car through the sockets at the back of the car.....Can someone tell me which one I use? There are two, one with a white cover cap and one with a black one. 2010 RRS TDV6 3.0 Autobiography - Stornoway Grey

If you look in the site shop the adaptors are there with some instructions. It also says to contact Martin if you need advice. ---------------------------

I have a CTEK and adapter from Martin - mine plugs into the 13 pin on my RRS Thumbs Up

You will need the white 12S adapter and plug into socket with white cap http://www.disco3.co.uk/shop/index.php?act...oductId=45

Gents - which CTEK charger do you recommend Embarassed - & is it as simple as buying an adaptor from the site - connect it to the pin connector behind the tow eye cover & away you go Embarassed is the 15amp fuse built in ?

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

5Amp is fine for maintenance charging but would takes longer to charge a low battery

Was looking at the 5 or 7Amp myself but went for the 10Amp in the end but only because it was a good offer on Amazon at £89 in the 1 day sale just after Xmas

Why cant you just attach the charger directly on to the battery ?

You can of course connect direct to the battery but this normally requires the bonnet to be open as the clips may short to the bonnet if closed.
Using the plug as suggested allows a straightforward connection which is easily safer than clips on the battery.

I bought the plug shown in the previous threads and it is a great piece of kit to adapt from the CTEK.( which is IMHO the best charger available.) I've got 4 of them and would not even bother with any other type!

According to handbook connection direct to battery can only be made when disconnected from vehicle - using ctek with tow adapter apparently solves this problem Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
