Anyone tempted by the Macan?

At the risk of being shot down in flames, I'm wondering whether anyone here is interested in the Macan?

It's sized between the Evoque and the RRS, is already being well reviewed and offers performance which is better than a comparably priced RRS. I spec'd a Macan turbo to £68k, £17k less than the RRS I have on order; it's faster and at least 50% more economical. It does not have the road presence, high driving position and ultimate off-road ability of course.

The car is bound to steal sales from others, not least Porsche's own Cayenne and it would be interesting to know how LR regard it. A thorn in their side, I expect. Mark

Love the styling of it, but from the few pictures available the size looks tiny!

The base 3ltr diesel starts at mid £40k, so by the time you add some extras ,it takes it up to £55-60k, I don't think it will trouble evoque sales but should sell well as a new niche model

Cheers
Dave

Yes, the options list is very long and any prospective buyer would need to be careful to avoid bring slaughtered come resale time. While it currently sits between the Evoque and RRS in terms of size and configured price, there will be 4 pot engines which will doubtless put pressure on the Evoque.

It's a different car from the RRS but at least some people will have both on their list of possibilities. Mark

It has, in no way, the same appeal/presence as a RRS. That being said, neither has the Cayenne, at least not for me.

I think it's more like between a ford focus and Evoque in terms of size! Look at the ground clearance as well - it has none!

As much as I love Porches (I have an old 911) and think the styling is spot on, I would not have either the Macan or the Cayanne, if I was downsizing from the RRS I would get an Evoque. My mate has a VW tiguan and space up front is tiny , feels like being in a polo, can't think the Macan would be any different

Cheers
