RAI - Air Pipe

I have a OEM RAI that I am wanting to put on my 07MY TDV6. When I do install it I want to turn it into a snorkel by making it a fully sealed unit. To do this, one of the things I will need to do is remove the pipe that joins the air intake to the air box and either replace it with a new sealed pipe or seal the current pipe.

Looking at it from the engine bay it is not obvious how to remove the pipe so any advice on how to approach its removal would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you remove the headlight you can see the short 90deg elbow section that links the pipe to the filter box. This is an easy remove with the filter box lifted out of the way. I think the other section is removed from the wing air intake end.

One thing that needs to be done carefully is connecting the filter box to the elbow and the elbow to the air intake pipe in the wing. Note that the elbow, on mine at least, is perforated so will need sealing too. I found the filter box pretty fiddly to fully seal back to the elbow when I played around with these bits as part of another job.

It might be worth doing a search on Disco3 for more info. They're more likely to have done something like this than the wash-and-polish brigade hereabouts Whistle Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
